Vicar's Picnic launches art competition!

We are excited to announce that Festival Paradise will once again be working with The Vicar's Picnic to launch its successful art competition.

Now in its 6th Year, The Vicar's Picnic is a wonderful grass-roots festival in the beautiful location of Yalding, a picturesque village in Kent. Created by locals and and crafted with love, this festival is entirely organised by volunteers yet still manages to pack a real punch when it comes to music line-ups. This year will see Fun Lovin' Criminal, Starsailor, Cast and plenty more besides. Previous year's have seen the likes of Reef, The Fratellis and From The Jam. The Vicar's Picnic is also a very family-friendly festival; there is a simply fantastic kids' arena with many attractions which are all included in the price of the ticket (not always the case at many festivals!)

Last year's primary schools art competition, received over 100 entries from Kent primary schools. The theme was based on depicting the beauftiful Kent countryside, the setting for this unique fesival. Above, you can see 2017's winning entry from Rosa, age 5, from Senacre Wood Primary Scool.

This year, the competition has been launched with the theme of Rock Art. Think music, instruments, notes, entertainment, friendship, rock n’ roll, DJs, parties, noise, and screaming fans.

The competition details are below. If you have children who attend a Kent primary school, please encourage them to participate!

The Vicar’s Picnic Primary Schools Art Competition

The Vicar’s Picnic music festival, which takes place in Yalding on the 20th and 21st of July, will once again be running their Primary Schools Art Competition. The festival is entirely run by volunteers and supports two local charities, Dandelion Time and the Kenwood Trust.

Primary school children are invited to draw a picture based on some key words associated with The Vicar’s Picnic (these key words are listed below). As last year, winners will be selected from each school and their pictures will be displayed at a special gallery during the festival. Three overall winners will also be chosen who will have their artwork showcased at the festival, in the festival programme and will receive a free weekend family ticket to the festival.

Competition guidelines.

The drawing must be based on the theme of “Rock Art”. Some ideas for this include: music, instruments, notes, entertainment, friendship, rock n’ roll, DJs, parties, noise, and screaming fans. Please use plain white A4 paper (portrait or landscape). No computer graphics, please.

The deadline for entering your artwork is Monday 21st May Please hand your entry to your teacher. The winners will be selected by the Vicar’s Picnic team and David Bray, local illustrator and artist, who created the Father Bez character which is used on the Vicar’s Picnic posters. Schools will be informed of winners during the week beginning Monday 4th June.
