Lemonfest 2017 - A lively, local festival with a few surprises up its sleeve.....
It’s been over a week since Lemonfest and it’s about time we fed back on a lively, local and highly entertaining festival.
Arriving onsite at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Saturday 10th June it was clear that this was a buzzing and buoyant place to be. A largely younger crowd filled into the dance tent and forgot about the rain outside, whilst thumping tunes hammered out across the arena; they were here to party.
Personally, we were looking forward to the night’s headliners We Are Scientists. This was reflected in the infectious excitement that the festival’s organiser Matt Freemantle had for the Indie feel to Saturday night; he was particularly looking forward to Little Comets. They didn’t disappoint.
In the main arena there were quite a few foodstalls to choose from and the beer tent provided welcome respite from the weather, which hadn’t dampened revellers spirits. Lemonfest ale was flowing well from the taps. Looking out onto the arena, zorbing for kids continued unabated.
As night time approached We Are Scientists produced their trademark high-octane, flawless, live performance which entertained the crowd immensely and for us being at the front to witness it we had some great memories to take away.
The music would’ve brought proceedings to a premature end if it wasn’t for the late-night bar; a master stroke. A welcome oasis hidden away from the main arena meant festival-goers could continue partying until the early hours. The silent disco proved to be a real hit inside this large tent and it was a fitting end to an extremely energising festival.
