Yesterday, the third annual Isle Of Wight Festival Dragon Boat Race was held in support of Stand Up To Cancer. So far the festival has raised over £90,000 for the charity. Special guests James Walsh of Starsailor, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch of Boyzone took part in the rowing, and Midge Ure OBE also attended the event to show his support for the great charity.

This is the third time a race of this kind has taken place on the island, with companies competing on the water and enjoying a day of entertainment at Island Harbour.

100% of the money raised by Isle of Wight will go towards ground breaking cancer research designed to speed up the process of taking breakthroughs from labs to patients and help improve survival rates.

Of the fourteen teams which took part in this years Dragon Boat Race, Wightlink were the overall champions who took home the trophy and won tickets to this years Isle Of Wight Festival. Other teams who took part include A.P. Security, Cheap Skips, Connor Construction, The Cowes Ladies Football Team, Island Business, Island Harbour, Heineken, Live Nation, Red Funnel, Stand Up To Cancer, Squire Patton Boggs, Ticketmaster and Unbranded.
