The Beat Herder enters its 14th year in 2019. This is a festival that prides itself on being different; Beat-Herder has recently been the winner of the "Extra Festival Activity Award" at the UK Festival Awards. All because of the enormous time, thought and effort that goes into the production of this festival. For starters, the stages are all built by craftsmen, each having a particular theme. In 2016, one was designed to be a mock up of a working men's club and another, a parish church, complete with pews. The whole festival arena is pretty much like a work of art.

The profusion of little details like this make this festival one of a kind. Clearly a far cry from many of the big money, corporate festivals, this weekend of music and fun feels much more personal and thoughtful. Many describe it as a playground for adults, with music thrown in. There's a yearly fancy dress theme and you'll also find DJ sets, creative workshops, face-painting and even a talent contest judged by the farmer who owns the land used for the festival!

What we love about this festival.

We agree with The Mirror: "This is the most spell-binding, brilliant small festival in the land".
